Points4Life

Points 4 Life is an scheme developed by NHS Manchester and Manchester City Council. It aims to encourage people to eat more healthily and to be more physically active. Over 3 years, £3.5 million is being spent on the scheme, with the majority coming from the Department of Health.

The target is to engage 120,000 people in Manchester in healthy eating and physical activity. This was originally planned to be through the development of a points card (like a loyalty card) where healthy purchases in local shops (including major supermarkets) would earn points for discounted sporting and leisure activities.

At present, however, uptake of the scheme by the supermarkets has not been achieved and a revised programme is being implemented. Further information will be available here in due course.
