Lead Professional

Manchester is progressing the development of the role of the lead professional within a practitioner wide remit so that a range of staff (including members of the voluntary and community sector) are able to act as the lead professional.  This work will be embedded in the 'Think Family' approach to ensure the family is at the centre and empowering them to develop a support plan with partners delivering a coordinated package of services.  The city is using the guidance nationally by Government to embed the development.  The key functions of the lead professional are to:

  • act as a single point of contact
  • coordinate the delivery of the actions agreed by the practitioners involved
  • reduce overlap and inconsistency
