MACC--manchester alliance for community care

Food Futures

The Food Futures Partnership Board was formally established in May 2006 and includes representation from the Health Inequalities Pool. Part of the Board's wider role is to develop engagement with community representatives with a diversity of interests and backgrounds in food, including for example nutritionists, growers, and environmentalists. Rob Squires is the current Health Inequalities Pool representative on the Board. You can contact Rob through MACC or via our online forum

Within the Food Futures strategy, a number of sub programmes are emerging, including:

  • Food supply chain / food security
  • Skills, education, employment and economy
  • Children and schools
  • Community engagement / local action
  • Information and campaigns
  • Sustainable public procurement and environmental links

As the work develops, each of these will build opportunities for engagement by local people, in decision-making processes around these issues.
