About Food and Wellbeing
Food and Health is one of the key work programmes being delivered by Manchester's Health Inequalities Partnership. During the Health Inequalities Pool meeting held in October 2005, and through the Pool's ‘Great Health Debate’ consultation, food was identified as the most important issue, and the one that the people felt they could do something about - at both personal and community levels.
The Joint Health Unit is acting as the main delivery vehicle for this programme of work, and now has a dedicated worker to support the Food Futures Strategy in order to achieve this. Food Futures has its own website which can be found at www.foodfutures.info
The Health Inequalities Pool is currently contributing towards the Food Futures Strategy, by increasing engagement by the community and voluntary sector in the work. To support this we have developed a Food Resource Pack. This is intended as a toolkit for community and voluntary organisations wanting to get involved with the strategy or to develop their own food initiatives.
To talk to someone about engaging in the Food Futures programme, or about the Food Resource Pack, contact Rob Squires, who is the current Health Inequalities Pool representative. You can contact Rob through MACC or via our online forum
