2. Developing Your Organisation

This section is devoted to the key areas that management has to address in terms of organisational development.  This is about the policies, procedures, processes, and structures you need to have in place to ensure your organisation is robust enough to be an acceptable proposition to the Charities Commission.

Examples of good practice highlighted here are largely drawn from the voluntary, community and faith sector – nationally, through organisations like the National Council for Voluntary Youth Service (NCVYS), Children England and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO); and locally, through infrastructure bodies like Manchester Community Central, Manchester Alliance for Community Care (MACC).  Where there is a legislative requirement, statutory examples are referred to.

Workforce development health check

The health check tool is aimed at workforce development professionals working within infrastructure organisations to use in support of voluntary organisations.  It consists of a list of questions outlining the key areas they would wish to consider in developing a workforce development strategy.
