MACC is an alliance of voluntary and community sector organisations which was formed in 1981 to challenge inequalities in health and social care. Since that time, it has evolved to become a specialist infrastructure organisation which
  • brings together and communicates the views of those involved in community based initiatives
  • works within the community to develop new ways of meeting people’s needs.
  • encourages statutory agencies to learn from and make use of the experience of the local voluntary sector, challenging the assumptions the sectors often make about each other.
MACC runs a number of themed development programmes which are covered in depth in the other sections of this site.
