Cutting the Cake Fairly ()

CSCI's review of eligibility criteria for social care.In their conclusion they state that the key issue is not simply the criteria (FACS), but the amount of resources currently allocated-thesize of the cake itself.

NHS Constitution (Word Document)

During Autumn 2008, the Department of Health published a proposed constitution for the National Health Service. It is intended as a statement of the values of the NHS and people's rights to services, free at the point of need. This is MACC's response to the draft constitution.

Reform of the Care and Support System (Word Document)

The Government is continuing to consult on the reform of the social care and support system. An event was held in Manchester in June where a number of stakeholders from across the Region were asked for our views, mainly on the future funding of social care.

Health and Wellbeing Event (PDF File)

MACC's Health and Wellbeing Network asked People First to undertake a small piece of work to gather the views of people with learning disabilities on what contributes to their health and wellbeing. They staged an event in April 2008 which was a fantastic, lively day full of great ideas and people getting to say how they felt. This is the report which arose from the event.

Independent Safeguarding Authority (Word Document)

From October 2009 there will be a Single Safeguarding Authority to help prevent unsuitable people from working with children and vulnerable adults.

This briefing paper is an introduction to the issues around the Personalisation of social care. It outlines the main aspects of the policy and looks at the challenges and opportunities for service users and voluntary sector organisations - and the potential for conflicting interests between the two. MACC will be producing further papers on this subject during 2008.
