2. A Healthy Local Food System

An alternative strategy for a Healthy Local Food System (or HeLF System) based in Manchester.

The HeLF System is a pioneer model of Community Economic Engagement, which aims to give people on a low income, access to healthy local food, by walking the 'extra mile' and engaging in local food processes.

This document is a summary report on the Bentley Bulk Healthy Local Food project, which was delivered in Hulme, Manchester, in 2004. The project links together food production, distribution and consumption in a whole system model, supported by community currency, education and training packages.

The document is only available as a pdf (Acrobat) file. Contact us if you would like a printed copy.
