The Proud Trust is a dynamic, caring, and values-based organisation which exists to help lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans young people, (and people with related identities such as asexual, pansexual, non-binary and intersex young people). We are looking for a caring, diligent, hard-working person who has a good energy and is dedicated to helping improve the lives of young LGBT+ people.
We welcome women to apply for this post under the gender exception in the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, Paragraph 1, which also means we are particularly interested to hear from TRANS WOMEN, including those who are less well represented in the LGBT+ sector, such as Black and Asian women and women from other minoritised ethnicities.
We know that for many trans women, there have been additional barriers to applying for jobs or volunteering in the past, so the chances of gaining experience in youth work might have been limited. We would still urge you to apply for this post, even if you only meet half the criteria, as we can support you in the role to learn and develop. What will really stand out to us is someone who is kind, reliable, fun, organised, a good listener, open to learning, and has a good values-match with our organisation.
Please note, this job has three areas of work (Bolton LGBT+ Youth Group, Stockport LGBT+ Youth Group and Trans Young Women’s Support). We will consider splitting this post into two or three roles, so if you feel that one or two of these areas fit better than all three then please still apply, and highlight this on your application form.
