Community First was an £80m government-funded initiative through the Community Development Foundation. 
The programme helped communities come together to identify their strengths and local priorities in order to plan for their future and become more resilient. It funded both new and existing community groups.
194 grants were awarded over the 4 years via 13 (out of a total of 18) community panels across Manchester. Approximately £600,000 was distributed in total.
