Executive Committee

Ashley Wood (Co-Chair)
I am a Qualified Social Worker and currently Assistant Chief Exec of the Gaddum Centre, a founder member organisation of MACC. I am responsible for the Advice, Advocacy and Information Service and the Patient and Public Involvement in Health Projects at the Gaddum Centre. I have worked in both statutory and voluntary sectors with my main interests being in people’s rights in community care and health provision.  I also provide training in Advocacy, and Community Care – “Making sense of the Legislation”.

Eileen Moore (Co-Chair)
I have been on the MACC committee since 1999. The information I receive through the MACC committee is helpful with my present work as Development Worker and Advocate with Link-Age, an advocacy and information project for older people in North Manchester. Prior to this I worked as a Social Worker.

Peter Moore (Treasurer)
I have been Treasurer of MACC since 2000. At present my time is split between being a homemaker, working part time for an accountancy and tax advisory firm and working as a volunteer for the Link-Age Advocacy Project. Previously I worked as a counsellor and bursar with financial responsibility for a house of studies for students attending university.

Mary Shaw
I have been a Trustee of MACC since 1997 and have always had some involvement with the work it carries out – the latest being the Manchester Older People’s Network Core Group.  As a parent-carer, I look after my 40 year-old daughter who has Downs Syndrome. I am Deputy Chair of the Manchester Carers’ Forum and have been a member since it was first set up 10 years ago. I am also a member of Manchester Learning Disability Partnership Board.

Justin Larner
I have been Manager of Mind in Manchester since 2000. The work at Mind has included developing the Mind Mentors project and contributing to the formation of the Delivering Inclusion Network, an innovative partnership project (which MACC helped to cultivate) that is being seen as a model for the development of future mental health services. I joined the MACC Management Committee in January 2005. I have previously worked freelance with a team of consultants based in the Bolton area to work with voluntary sector organisations including development and fundraising. Before that I was employed by Community Regeneration architects, who worked to develop community groups to help them create new buildings and facilities. Originally trained in computing, I have since gained extensive experience in staff management, fundraising, organisational development and creating partnerships

David Williams
My role as Project Manager of Manchester Carers Forum means I have been working alongside MACC for several years and joining the Committee in 2005 was an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between the two organisations.

The MACC Commitee also has a co-opted member:

Val Bayliss-Brideaux
Between 2004 and 2007, I worked for the Black Health Agency as Patient and Public Forum Co-ordinator for the Manchester Primary Care Trust forums. This involved working alongside a group of local volunteers who look at inspection and monitoring of the NHS. Prior to this I was working with the Community Health Council for South Manchester and often worked with MACC. I was also involved in supporting the relatives and carers of the patients on Rowan Ward in Withington Hospital and have an interest in what MACC’s work around mental health and older people services. In January 2008, I joined Manchester Primary Care Trust as a Patient and Public Involvement Officer based in South Manchester. I am now a non-voting member of the MACC Committee in order to maintain my links with the organisation and
its work.
